Morocco's Position as a Digital Innovation Hub
In a recent address to the House of Representatives, Aml Al-Falah Al-Saghroushni, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government responsible for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, highlighted Morocco's evolution into a key African platform for digital innovation. She emphasized that the nation has become a strategic bridge connecting Africa with various global technological spaces. This development was notably underscored by the "GITEX Africa Morocco" exhibition, which stands as one of the most significant technological events hosted in the country.
Success of the GITEX Africa Morocco Exhibition
The fourth edition of the GITEX Africa exhibition took place in Marrakech from April 7 to 9, 2026, under the auspices of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The event recorded impressive international participation, attracting over 55,000 attendees from more than 130 countries and featuring approximately 1,500 exhibitors from 58 nations. Additionally, it included the presence of 412 international investors from over 35 countries, managing assets exceeding $350 billion, along with more than 4,600 business meetings organized during the event.
Al-Falah Al-Saghroushni also noted the ministry's support for 300 Moroccan startups through the "Morocco 300" initiative, which facilitated direct meetings between 165 of these companies and potential investors. Remarkably, about 64% of these startups entered into advanced negotiations following the event.
The exhibition also highlighted the significant participation of major international investment funds, which represent over 80% of the funding for startups in Africa, alongside the presence of international development finance institutions. This further enhances Morocco's appeal as a regional hub for digital investment. The focus of this year's edition was on employing cutting-edge technologies and fostering innovation across various sectors, solidifying Morocco's reputation on the global stage.
