Moroccan Tourist Arrested in Pattaya for Unpaid Bar Bill and Disorderly Conduct

In an incident that unfolded in Pattaya on May 4, a Moroccan man, believed to be aged between 25 and 35, was apprehended after allegedly skipping out on his bar bill and causing a significant disturbance. The situation escalated when the bar owner, a Thai national, reported the incident to local authorities after the man fled the scene without settling his debts.

The incident began when the man, who was reportedly intoxicated, ordered a series of drinks for both himself and the bar staff, including hostesses, racking up a total of 2,500 baht. However, when prompted to pay, he became visibly agitated and fled the bar, making his way towards the beachfront road. Pattaya municipal officers quickly responded to the bar owner's distress call, aiming to locate and detain the individual.

Officers managed to track him down near the entrance of Soi 12 along the beach road. As they attempted to escort him to the Pattaya City Police Station, the man exhibited aggressive behavior, shouting at the officers and resisting arrest. Despite their efforts to calm the situation, he managed to break free and sprint towards the beach, prompting a pursuit by the police. The chase culminated in the middle of the road near Soi 12, where he continued to struggle against arrest for approximately ten minutes until additional police patrol units arrived to assist in his detention.

Ultimately, the man was handcuffed and taken to the police station, where he claimed to have already paid a portion of his bill, specifically 1,000 baht. His erratic behavior did not subside, as he continued to shout incoherently, leading officers to decide to temporarily detain him until he could sober up. Meanwhile, the bar owner filed a formal complaint with the police, citing damages exceeding 2,500 baht, which highlighted the financial repercussions of his actions.

Additionally, this incident echoes a separate case involving a Brazilian footballer in Udon Thani, who was also accused of evading payment, attacking bar staff, and subsequently fleeing the establishment in his vehicle after an extravagant night of drinking, totaling around 5,100 baht.
