Moroccan Protests Against Israeli Violations and Calls to End Normalization

In several Moroccan cities, protests and events continue to support the Palestinian cause and denounce Israeli violations, particularly the controversial law permitting the execution of Palestinian prisoners. The public outcry has intensified, with demands for an end to normalization with Israel gaining traction among the populace. Activists from both Islamic and leftist movements staged a protest in the Al-Makazin Square in Tangier, located in the northern part of the country, where they condemned the law and called for the release of all Palestinian prisoners and the cessation of normalization efforts with Israel.

In the central city of Beni Mellal, another group of activists participated in a demonstration following Friday prayers, organized by the Moroccan Committee for Supporting the Nation's Issues. This gathering was a reaction against what they described as 'provocative and normalizing practices,' particularly in response to images circulated on social media depicting members of the Haredi Jewish community performing religious rituals near the historic Bab Doukkala gate in Marrakech. In an interview with 'Al-Araby Al-Jadeed,' Mohamed Riahi Idrissi, the general secretary of the Moroccan Committee for Supporting the Nation's Issues, emphasized that these activities are part of ongoing efforts to support the Palestinian cause, reaffirming its centrality to Moroccans and renewing solidarity with the Palestinian people's demands, vehemently opposing the law that authorizes the execution of prisoners in Israeli jails.

Idrissi noted that these events, occurring shortly after the Bab Doukkala incident in Marrakech, aim to convey crucial messages, including a firm rejection of the 'strange' rituals performed by some Israelis in a direct provocation of Moroccans, violating their values and identity. He asserted that these activities also serve as a message to concerned parties that Moroccans, regardless of their political affiliations or social backgrounds, unite in their rejection of normalization with killers and criminals under any pretext. He underscored that Al-Aqsa Mosque and the prisoners are red lines, and they oppose all plans aimed at Judaizing the area and the violations and incursions faced by the mosque, as well as any conspiracies against Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, especially since October 7. Furthermore, he called on the international community and Arab and Islamic governments to intervene to alleviate the suffering in Gaza, including the siege and starvation imposed by the occupying authorities.

As the debate continues over a video documenting foreign Haredi Jews praying at the historic Bab Doukkala, the National Action Group for Palestine condemned the incident as 'provocative behavior that crosses all red lines,' labeling it a 'dangerous precedent' that necessitates punitive measures against those who facilitated such actions. They indicated that the intent behind these actions was to provoke Moroccans and test their reactions, in preparation for potentially more dangerous plots by the malicious Zionists in the country. The National Action Group stressed, in a statement released on Friday, that normalization and relations with a criminal entity pose a real threat to the security of Moroccans, emphasizing that national duty compels officials to swiftly put an end to this trajectory and terminate all forms of relations with the Zionist enemy.
