The Celebration of Quality in Moroccan Agricultural Products
On April 25, 2026, the Moroccan Agricultural Products Competition proudly announced its winners at the International Agricultural Show in Meknes, marking the seventh edition of this prestigious event. Organized by the Agricultural Development Agency, this initiative is a continuous effort supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, aimed at recognizing the diversity and excellence of Moroccan agricultural products. The event showcased a remarkable achievement with the distribution of 455 medals, including 134 gold, 141 silver, and 180 bronze, during a formal ceremony presided over by Ahmed Bouari, the Minister of Agriculture, alongside officials from the Agricultural Development Agency.
A special award for innovation was presented to the "Amine" cooperative from the Marrakech-Safi region for its unique product: organic saffron-infused argan oil. This recognition highlights the innovative approaches being taken in the agricultural sector.
Recognizing Excellence and Promoting Quality
This competition serves as a platform for various producers of local products to gain recognition and showcase their expertise to the public, reinforcing the quality and authenticity of their offerings. During the event, Hajiba Chkeil, the Director of Local Product Marketing Development at the Agricultural Development Agency, announced that a total of 1,375 products from different regions of the country were submitted. Following deliberations by the judging panel, seven excellence awards were bestowed upon various products, including argan oil from the "Boukhdou Akramoud" cooperative, olive oil from the "Ageriswak" cooperative, and honey from the "Agdez" cooperative, among others. This demonstrates the rich agricultural heritage of Morocco.
Launched in 2014 by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Moroccan Agricultural Products Competition has become a key mechanism for enhancing the value of local products, contributing to the competitiveness of producers, supporting cooperatives, and promoting offerings that meet the demands of both national and international markets.
In interviews with Hespress, the award-winning participants expressed that this recognition is not just about receiving awards, but rather serves as motivation for continued innovation and the preservation of Morocco's agricultural heritage. Fatima Zahra Amine, the head of the "Amine" cooperative, expressed pride in the award for their saffron-infused argan oil, highlighting its significance for the thirty women involved in the cooperative. She recognized the support from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agricultural Development Agency as crucial for their success.
Another winner, Mohamed Skourai from the "Ageriswak" cooperative, emphasized that winning the olive oil quality award is a testament to their hard work and commitment to legal standards. Fatima Marzouk, representing a cooperative from the Fes-Meknes region, regarded the gold medal in vinegar categories as a significant honor and recognition for their diligent efforts.
As the event concluded, participants reiterated their dedication to innovation and quality improvement in agricultural products, pushing boundaries to meet consumer expectations and enhance the local economy. This year's competition not only celebrated the best of Moroccan agricultural products but also encouraged a collaborative spirit among producers, ultimately fostering sustainable development in the agricultural sector.
