Marrakech Celebrates Throne Day with New Development Projects
In celebration of the 27th anniversary of the Throne Day, the Marrakech prefecture has inaugurated and launched a series of development projects aimed at enhancing cultural, educational, health, social, and security infrastructures. These initiatives reflect the modernization dynamics occurring in the Marrakech-Safi region and are designed to sustainably improve the quality of life for local residents.
The wali of the Marrakech-Safi region and governor of the Marrakech prefecture, Khatib El Hebil, has kicked off extensive infrastructure projects in Tassoultante, backed by a budget of nearly 93 million dirhams. This program includes the construction of new drinking water supply lines and the enhancement of the sewage system, with the goal of supporting the urban growth of the municipality while improving access to essential services.
Improving Mobility and Health Services
The authorities have also commenced the construction of a 5.1-kilometer road linking National Route No. 8 to Provincial Route No. 2700 via the Ben Hamida district in Aït Imour. This project, which involves an investment of 7 million dirhams, aims to connect several localities, facilitate residents' travel, and bolster local economic activity.
In the Harbil municipality, a primary health center has been inaugurated at a cost of 2.6 million dirhams. This new facility will bring primary healthcare services closer to citizens, improve the quality of medical care, and strengthen preventive services.
The Daoudiate Cultural Center has also expanded with the addition of an art gallery, thanks to an investment of 12.45 million dirhams. This space will provide local artists and creators with a professional environment to showcase their work while promoting public access to culture and enhancing Marrakech's cultural influence.
Moreover, the reconstruction of the Jbel Lakhdar Specialized Institute of Applied Technology, with a budget of 19 million dirhams, aims to offer new training in management, commerce, digital technology, artificial intelligence, and industry. The new establishment will feature modern classrooms, specialized workshops, digital spaces, a media library, a career guidance center, and areas dedicated to entrepreneurship and skills development.
In addition, the authorities inaugurated the 'Takafoua' qualifying high school, designed to accommodate up to 1,000 students across 26 classrooms. This institution will provide a modern learning environment, improve teaching conditions, and support the development of educational and extracurricular activities in the region.
Among the launched projects is the 'Abnaouna T21' center, dedicated to the social support and rehabilitation of children and individuals with Down syndrome. With a budget of 5.8 million dirhams, it will serve 75 beneficiaries with the help of a specialized team of 25 professionals. Finally, a new civil protection rescue center will be constructed with an investment of 17.61 million dirhams to enhance emergency response capabilities and improve the safety of local populations.
All these projects are financed with the support of several partners, including the Marrakech-Safi Multiservices Regional Company, the Marrakech-Safi Region, and the Program for Reducing Territorial and Social Disparities. They align with the development strategy of the Marrakech prefecture, which aims to strengthen public infrastructures, improve citizen services, reduce territorial disparities, and support balanced and sustainable development in accordance with the High Guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
