Marrakech Celebrates Moroccan Music Heritage with Star-Studded Concert

The Marrakech Association for Traditional Music is set to host its inaugural concert on Saturday, May 23, at the Theatre of the Square in Marrakech. This event is the first in a series of concerts titled "The Memory of Moroccan Song: Between an Innovative Composer and a Captivating Voice." This cultural initiative aims to preserve the national artistic memory while showcasing the richness and diversity of Moroccan music.

This opening concert is a tribute to one of Morocco's most prominent composers, Hassan Kadmiri, who has left an indelible artistic legacy and a distinctive mark on the history of Moroccan music. The event will also honor the artistic journey of the late Abdelhadi Belkayat, a renowned Moroccan singer whose warm voice and elegant performances established a unique artistic school in the country.

The evening will feature a selection of outstanding Moroccan talents, including artists Fouad Hamani, Ayoub Tijani, and Youssef Grifi. They will present a curated collection of beautiful songs that highlight the genius of melody and the splendor of performance.

The audience can look forward to a sophisticated musical presentation supported by a band led by maestro Hamza Amzakar, who will accompany the artists in delivering artistic performances that revive the glory of Moroccan song with a contemporary spirit that blends authenticity and innovation.

According to the press release, this artistic event marks the beginning of a series of nights that will spotlight the icons of Moroccan music, aiming to enhance awareness of the national musical heritage and connect younger generations with the roots of authentic Moroccan art.
