Marrakech Celebrates 27th Throne Day with Major Development Projects

On the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the Throne Day, the Governor of the Marrakech-Safi region, along with elected officials, security heads, and decentralized service heads, launched several development projects on Monday, July 27, 2026. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance infrastructure, improve the quality of services for residents, and support sustainable regional development.

Among the significant projects initiated, the Governor announced the commencement of an infrastructure project in the Tslatant community, focusing on the drinking water and wastewater networks. With a total investment of approximately 93 million dirhams, this project includes the urgent phase of the drinking water supply network in the eastern region, as well as the construction of TS5 and TS6 channels. The primary goal of this initiative is to enhance basic water and sanitation infrastructure, improve living conditions for residents, and accommodate the urban and demographic expansion the community is experiencing, thereby improving the quality of essential services and supporting balanced urban development.

Additionally, work has begun on the construction of a road linking National Road No. 8 to Regional Road No. 2700 through the Ben Hamida area in the Ait Imour community. This 5.1 km road project, with an estimated cost of 7 million dirhams, aims to improve road connectivity, alleviate isolation for residents, facilitate mobility, and enhance access to essential services. Moreover, it is expected to boost economic and social dynamics while strengthening regional integration.

In another effort to enhance healthcare access for citizens, a primary health center was inaugurated in the Harbil community, with a total investment of 2.6 million dirhams. This project will significantly improve access to primary and preventive healthcare services, thus elevating the quality of local health care and ensuring better health coverage for the population.

These projects are the result of concerted efforts and a collaborative mobilization of various stakeholders, with funding secured from multiple sources, including the regional multi-service company Marrakech-Safi, the Marrakech-Safi region, and the program aimed at reducing spatial and social disparities. Relevant authorities will oversee the implementation of these projects, ensuring that developmental goals are met while maximizing their positive impact on the communities involved.

These initiatives are part of the ongoing development dynamics within the Marrakech district, which aims to bolster essential infrastructure, enhance public service quality, and strengthen the attractiveness of regional areas. Such efforts contribute to achieving balanced and sustainable development that meets the aspirations of the population, aligning with the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, aimed at establishing the foundations of comprehensive development and reducing social and spatial disparities.
