Lawyer's Plea for Senegalese Fans Detained in Morocco

Patrick Kabo, the lawyer representing the detained Senegalese fans, has confirmed that three individuals will be released from Moroccan prisons today after serving a three-month sentence. This incarceration was a consequence of the disturbances that occurred during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final between Morocco and Senegal. Following their release, the individuals plan to travel directly to Fes to visit the Tijaniyya Zaouia and the tomb of its founder, Sheikh Ahmad Tijani, before returning to their families in Dakar, Senegal.

In the same context, Kabo revealed that the defense team has submitted a special request for pardon to King Mohammed VI, which includes a plea for the release of the remaining detained fans. They hope these individuals will be granted amnesty during an upcoming religious occasion. The lawyer conveyed the released fans' desire to perform a religious visit immediately upon their exit, emphasizing their preference to pray in Fes prior to departing Morocco. This illustrates the spiritual significance of their journey. Furthermore, some fans assured Kabo that there is no animosity towards Morocco or its people; they believe that the incidents stemmed from tensions related to the match rather than being motivated by hostility.
