Severe Heat Wave Forecasted in Morocco
The General Directorate of Meteorology in Morocco has issued a warning regarding an impending heat wave that is set to affect several regions of the country starting today, Sunday, and continuing until Tuesday. This alert, categorized as an 'orange' warning, indicates that temperatures are anticipated to soar between 44 and 47 degrees Celsius in the provinces of Zagora, Tata, and Assa-Zag. Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate the effects of the extreme heat.
In addition to the severe heat wave, the meteorological authority predicts elevated temperatures across additional regions for tomorrow, Monday. Temperatures are expected to range from 42 to 44 degrees Celsius in the provinces of Settat, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Beni Mellal, Fkih Ben Saleh, Meknes, Khénifra, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, and Khouribga. Such high temperatures can pose health risks, particularly for vulnerable populations, and individuals are urged to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
Furthermore, the same temperature range of 42 to 44 degrees Celsius is expected to affect the provinces of Khmissat, Fez, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Ouezzane, and Sefrou from Monday through Tuesday. The General Directorate of Meteorology also forecasts that temperatures will reach between 39 and 42 degrees Celsius in the provinces of Kenitra and Larache tomorrow. Residents should remain vigilant and take the necessary steps to ensure their safety during this heat wave.
