Arrival of the First Flights of the Makkah Route Initiative from Morocco
The inaugural flights benefiting from the "Makkah Route" initiative have successfully landed at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, having departed from Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, Morocco. This initiative aims to provide high-quality services to pilgrims traveling from various participating countries, ensuring a seamless transition upon their arrival.
Through the Makkah Route initiative, pilgrims undergo essential procedures in their home countries, which include capturing biometric data, electronically issuing Hajj visas, and completing passport checks at the departure airport after confirming their health requirements. Additionally, the initiative facilitates the coding and sorting of luggage based on transport and accommodation arrangements in the Kingdom, allowing for direct transfers to buses that will escort pilgrims to their designated residences in the holy regions of Makkah and Madinah. This comprehensive process ensures that the luggage is delivered efficiently to the respective locations by partner organizations.
In its eighth year of implementation, the Ministry of Interior is executing this initiative in collaboration with several ministries, including Foreign Affairs, Health, Hajj and Umrah, Media, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the General Authority for Endowments, the Guests of Allah Program, and the General Directorate of Passports, alongside the digital partner (STC Group). Since its launch in 1438H (2017), the initiative has served over 1,254,994 pilgrims, enhancing their Hajj experience significantly.
