FC Barcelona's Upcoming Preseason Schedule
The FC Barcelona 2026-27 preseason is taking shape, with only a few uncertainties remaining. As the club's board of directors has approved the key aspects, details are gradually emerging. Under the guidance of coach Hansi Flick, the team will embark on a classic two-week training camp in England. Before kicking off the season, the club is set to play two friendly matches, as reported by Mundo Deportivo—one in Nairobi, Kenya, likely against a prominent European rival such as Liverpool, and another in Morocco.
Barcelona's stay at Saint George’s Park, the training center for the England national team, will last approximately two weeks, from July 27 to August 8. Following their time in England, the team is expected to travel directly to Nairobi for the friendly on August 9 or 10, before returning to Barcelona and then making a quick trip to Morocco for the second friendly on August 14.
Preparation Matches and Financial Implications
In addition, the team will play its first preparation match on English soil against Birmingham City from the English Championship in the early days of their training camp. This match, conveniently located close to Saint George’s Park, will allow Flick to balance training with real-game experience. Although many international players will still be on vacation following the World Cup and will join the preseason at varying times, these three matches—the one against Birmingham and the two in Africa—will help Barcelona approach their usual revenue figures from tours. The match against Birmingham is expected to offset the costs of the training camp, while the two friendlies are projected to generate around 10 million in revenue.
Barcelona is also looking forward to a pending visit to Peru, where they have a signed agreement for a friendly match that would have already taken place had the team played their league match in Miami last December. This would have allowed the club to utilize the transatlantic trip to head to Peru. Regarding the Morocco match, negotiations were ongoing at that time, but a date could not be finalized due to the Africa Cup of Nations.
This will mark the third time FC Barcelona prepares for the season at the facilities of Saint George’s Park. In the previous two instances, during the summers of 2014 and 2016, the head coach was Luis Enrique. Notably, the 2014-15 season, Enrique's first at the helm, concluded with a historic treble.
