easyJet Launches Its First African Base in Marrakech

easyJet Expands Its Horizons with New Base in Morocco

In a significant move to enhance its operational footprint in Africa, easyJet has officially inaugurated its first base on the continent in Marrakech, Morocco. This strategic expansion sees the airline stationing three aircraft at the Marrakech Airport, which is anticipated to generate around 100 direct employment opportunities as well as several thousand indirect jobs, bolstering the local economy. This initiative is made possible through a collaborative development effort with the Moroccan National Tourist Office (MNTO), highlighting the partnership's commitment to fostering tourism and connectivity in the region.

easyJet has quickly established itself as the second-largest airline operating in Marrakech, providing essential links between the city and various destinations across Europe. As part of its expansion plans, the airline is set to introduce three new routes next winter, namely Marrakech–Prague, Marrakech–Newcastle, and Marrakech–Zurich. This addition will elevate the total number of routes available from Marrakech to an impressive 30, offering travelers more choices for their journeys.

Furthermore, easyJet is not only adding new routes but is also enhancing existing service levels. Routes such as Marrakech–Lille, Marrakech–Strasbourg, and Marrakech–Hamburg are being transitioned to year-round operations, ensuring consistent accessibility for travelers. Beyond Marrakech, easyJet plans to launch new routes from Morocco, including flights from Nantes to Essaouira, Bordeaux to Agadir, and Birmingham to Agadir, culminating in a total of 58 routes connecting Morocco to various destinations across Europe.

With these developments, easyJet is not only expanding its network but also contributing significantly to the Moroccan tourism sector, making travel more convenient for both local and international travelers.
