Celebrating Manga Culture at Casablanca's Cultural Program

Casablanca Highlights Japanese Manga at "Morocco, Land of Cultures" Event

On April 25, 2026, Casablanca buzzed with excitement as the Collectif 4.0, in collaboration with the Al Mada Foundation, hosted the fourth edition of their cultural initiative "Morocco, Land of Cultures." This year's event prominently featured the rich and vibrant world of Japanese manga, inviting families to dive deep into this beloved aspect of Japanese culture. Dubbed "Manga F'lmdina," the program offered various engaging activities designed to immerse participants in the creative arts of Japan.

Attendees had the unique opportunity to explore traditional Japanese crafts through hands-on workshops in origami and calligraphy, while also expressing their creativity through manga drawing sessions, coloring activities, and DIY projects. Leila El Oudghiri, a founding member of Collectif 4.0, emphasized that the focus of this edition was to celebrate Japanese culture through a series of interactive activities. This immersive experience allowed attendees to connect with the artistic expressions of Japan, using manga, drawing, games, and artistic productions as gateways to a rich and accessible global culture.

According to Oudghiri, the program was tailored for both children and adults, providing a space at the Villa des Arts in the economic capital for families to explore, experiment, and fully engage with a new imaginative universe. The event was designed to offer an interactive experience across various easily accessible spaces, encouraging families to discover Japanese culture in a fun, creative, and participatory manner.

The reading area featured a curated selection of manga for visitors to browse, allowing both children and adults to explore diverse worlds. Additionally, participants could enjoy Japanese games, attend martial arts demonstrations, and meet cosplay enthusiasts, further enhancing the immersive experience. Aymane Oukhira, the coordinator for the origami and calligraphy workshops, noted that the event provided an excellent opportunity for participants to learn about traditional Japanese arts while unleashing their creativity through manga drawing and crafts.

Oukhira also highlighted that the workshop encouraged children and families to bring their own mangas to share with others, fostering a collaborative atmosphere where new discoveries could be made in a playful and appealing way. "Morocco, Land of Cultures" is a monthly cultural meeting held every last Saturday of the month at the Villa des Arts in Casablanca, running until June 2026. This program, designed for families, aims to explore Moroccan professions and culture through interactive, playful, and educational workshops that promote the transmission and discovery of heritage. The Collectif 4.0, the driving force behind this initiative, is a cultural experience and event creation studio that imagines and produces projects intended to unite audiences and create cultural experiences that bridge generations.
