Casablanca Stock Exchange Experiences Decline

On July 7, 2026, the Casablanca Stock Exchange concluded its trading session in negative territory, with its primary index, the MASI, experiencing a decline of 0.96%, settling at 18,224.41 points. This decrease reflects a broader trend as the MASI 20, which encompasses the 20 most liquid stocks, also fell by 0.82% to 1,341.49 points, while the MASI ESG, which tracks companies rated highly on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria by Moody's ESG Solutions, decreased by 1.28% to 1,296.42 points. Furthermore, the MASI Mid and Small Cap index, which indicates the performance of small and medium-sized enterprises listed on the exchange, dropped by 0.58% to 1,824.74 points.

Sector Performance Highlights

In terms of international performance, both the FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index and the FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid faced losses, down by 0.75% to 17,513 points and 0.8% to 15,749.13 points, respectively. Sector-wise, the most significant declines were observed in the "Mines" sector, which fell by 2.44%, followed closely by "Transport" at a decrease of 2.36%, and "Forestry and Paper" at 2.34%. Conversely, the "Real Estate Investment Companies" sector managed to gain 1.07%, while the "Engineering and Industrial Equipment" sector saw a modest increase of 0.46%.

During the trading session, the total exchange volume surpassed 102.6 million dirhams (MDH), predominantly driven by transactions involving HPS (23.45 MDH), the Moroccan Beverage Company (15.04 MDH), and Attijariwafa Bank (11.62 MDH). The market capitalization of the Casablanca Stock Exchange stood at over 1,042.13 billion dirhams.

On an individual stock basis, notable declines were recorded by S2M, down 3.41% to 482 DH, Microdata, which fell 2.98% to 775 DH, and Managem, decreasing by 2.97% to 13,351 DH. Other significant losers included Sonasid, down 2.92% to 1,930 DH, and BMCI, which dropped 2.89% to 605 DH. In contrast, the standout gainers included Aradei Capital, which rose by 1.36% to 424.9 DH, Minière Touissit, with a 0.99% increase to 4,797 DH, and Afric Industries, which saw a 0.92% rise to 328 DH.
