Significant Increase in Hajj Participants for 1447H Season
On April 21, 2026, during a session at the House of Representatives, the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, revealed that a total of 34,000 pilgrims will be participating in the Hajj rituals for the 1447H season. This number includes 22,200 pilgrims organized through official channels and 11,800 through private agencies. The Minister responded to queries about enhancing Hajj services and ensuring a well-organized operation, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards for this significant religious event.
In his address, Toufiq highlighted that the cost of participating in the official Hajj program has been set at 63,121 dirhams, reflecting a decrease of 3,000 dirhams compared to the previous year's fees. This adjustment aims to make the pilgrimage more accessible to a larger segment of the population while maintaining the quality of services provided.
Furthermore, the minister elaborated on the measures taken to enhance coordination with various sectors, institutions, and organizations that are part of the Royal Hajj Committee. Each entity is tasked with responsibilities pertinent to their expertise, ensuring a comprehensive support system for the pilgrims. This includes organizing training sessions for those accompanying the pilgrims and intensifying awareness programs through national media outlets and mosques. Additionally, guidelines and informative materials covering all aspects of the Hajj journey are being prepared for the benefit of the participants.
To ensure effective management, the minister stated that lists of supervisors and companions have been finalized, with one supervisor assigned for every 49 pilgrims. A precise transportation schedule for the pilgrims has also been developed, and each pilgrim will receive a digital card containing essential information to assist them throughout their pilgrimage.
Regarding coordination with Saudi authorities, Toufiq noted that a protocol was established during the recent Hajj and Umrah Services Conference and Exhibition. He mentioned that the Saudi officials praised the Moroccan delegation for its responsiveness and the quality of its organization during the previous year, recognizing their efforts as exceptional.
