Major Security Operation Leads to Arrest of 11 Wanted Individuals in Morocco

The Moroccan National Police, in close coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, successfully conducted a significant security operation on Monday, resulting in the arrest of 11 individuals who were sought at both national and international levels. Among those apprehended were individuals with dual nationalities, including Moroccan-French, Belgian, Dutch, and one French citizen.

This extensive operation unfolded simultaneously in the cities of Marrakech and Tangier. Investigations revealed through databases of the International Criminal Police Organization, INTERPOL, that ten of the arrested individuals were subjects of red notices issued at the request of judicial authorities from France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

Security data indicated that six of the detainees were French nationals of Moroccan descent, wanted by French authorities on suspicions of involvement in money laundering, participation in criminal networks specializing in drug trafficking, as well as fraud. Additionally, three Belgian nationals of Moroccan descent were apprehended on suspicions of being linked to international drug trafficking activities.

The operation further resulted in the arrest of a Dutch national of Moroccan descent, who is the subject of an international red notice for suspected involvement in issues related to drug trafficking and money laundering, along with a French citizen wanted nationally for a case concerning money laundering, based on a search warrant issued by the National Judicial Police.

Search operations conducted as part of this case led to the seizure of several luxury cars and motorcycles, valuable watches, personal belongings, as well as significant amounts of money in both local and foreign currencies, bank cards, mobile phones, passports, and identification documents, in addition to quantities of cocaine.

All detainees have been placed under provisional custody under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutors, as investigations aim to determine all potential extensions of these criminal activities and complete judicial cooperation procedures related to the files issued by foreign authorities, in accordance with the applicable legal provisions given that many suspects hold Moroccan nationality.

This recent security operation reflects the advanced level of coordination between Moroccan security services and their international counterparts, and it underscores the ongoing effectiveness of national security forces in pursuing internationally wanted individuals and dismantling the sources of transnational organized crime.
