Weather Advisory: Heat Wave Expected Across Morocco

The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a warning regarding an impending heat wave that is set to impact several regions of Morocco starting Sunday, May 24. This weather phenomenon is anticipated to bring soaring temperatures, potentially reaching as high as 45 degrees Celsius, as per an orange alert issued by the meteorological authorities.

The heat wave is expected to affect the regions of Smara, Assa-Zag, Boujdour, Oued Eddahab, Ausserd, Tarfaya, Tata, and Laayoune from Sunday, May 24, through Wednesday, May 27, with temperatures ranging between 42 and 45 degrees Celsius. In addition, the heat wave will extend to other provinces including Sidi Slimane, Rahamna, Nouaceur, Khemisset, Sidi Bennour, Youssoufia, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Meknes, Khénifra, Fez, Kenitra, Sidi Qasim, Ben Slimane, Berrechid, Settat, Chichaoua, Qalaat Sraghna, Marrakech, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Larache, Wazzan, Essaouira, Safi, Guelmim, Taroudant, and Tata, where temperatures are expected to range from 37 to 42 degrees Celsius.

Furthermore, the weather forecast indicates that from Sunday to Tuesday, May 26, the regions of Agadir-Ida Ou Tanane, Chtouka Ait Baha, Inzikan Ait Melloul, Tiznit, Rabat, Salé, Temara, Skhirat, Sidi Ifni, Casablanca, Mediouna, Mohammedia, and El Jadida will also experience high temperatures, with values between 38 and 41 degrees Celsius.
